Dedicated to academic excellence, integrity, and respect for our students, teachers, and families.
"Hi, I am Milly Blanco and I'm running for the Martin County School Board District 4 because I want to make a meaningful impact on the future of our schools and our community. I believe every student deserves access to a high-quality education supported by excellent teachers and strong partnerships with parents.
My goals are to bring an educator's perspective to the School Board; attract and retain highly qualified teachers; support students and educators in the classroom; and rebuild respect and trust in public education. I want every student to reach their full potential and beyond by developing not only academically, but as well-rounded individuals prepared for the future.
Together, we can help students become lifelong learners and productive citizens who contribute positively to our community."

Our Priorities for District 4
Respect for Teachers
Elevating the Teaching Profession
I believe strong schools begin with strong teachers.
We must ensure our educators receive the competitive compensation, classroom resources, and administrative support they deserve to inspire the next generation.
After 27 years in the classroom/library, I understand firsthand that when teachers feel respected and supported, students thrive. Elevating the teaching profession means:
-
Advocating for competitive salaries and fair compensation
-
Ensuring access to high-quality instructional materials and technology
-
Providing meaningful professional development
-
Promoting supportive and accountable leadership
-
Restoring respect for educators in our community
When we invest in teachers, we invest in students. And when students succeed, our entire community prospers.
Leadership Integrity
Restoring Common-Sense. Leadership
Our schools should not be driven by political agendas, they should be guided by what works for students.
I am committed to restoring respectful, non-partisan leadership to the School Board, grounded in data, policy, and measurable performance — not division.
After 27 years in education, I understand that real progress happens when leaders:
-
Focus on student outcomes, not political headlines
-
Make decisions based on facts, transparency, and accountability
-
Listen to educators, parents, and community stakeholders
-
Maintain fiscal responsibility and ethical governance
-
Put long-term educational excellence above short-term politics
Public education belongs to the community — not to political parties.
Academic Excellence
Strengthening Academic Excellence & Career Readiness
Every student deserves a clear path to success whether that leads to college, technical certification, or a high-demand career within our community.
We must prioritize strong core academic standards while expanding meaningful vocational and career training opportunities. Education should prepare students not just for tests, but for life.
This means:
-
Maintaining rigorous core academic standards in literacy, math, science, and civics
-
Expanding career and technical education (CTE) programs
-
Strengthening partnerships with local businesses and workforce leaders
-
Providing dual enrollment and certification opportunities
-
Ensuring students graduate with real-world skills and options
Success looks different for every student and our schools must be prepared to support every pathway.
Fiscal Responsibility
Responsible Stewardship of Taxpayer Dollars
Every dollar invested in our schools should directly benefit students and classrooms.
Our community works hard for its tax dollars. As a School Board member, I will ensure those resources are spent efficiently, transparently, and with measurable impact on student success.
Fiscal responsibility means:
-
Prioritizing funding for direct classroom instruction and student services
-
Maintaining modern, safe, and well-equipped school facilities
-
Ensuring transparent budgeting and clear public reporting
-
Eliminating wasteful spending and unnecessary bureaucracy
-
Planning long-term to protect both educational quality and taxpayer trust
Strong financial stewardship builds strong schools and strong schools build strong communities.
Family & Student First
Empowering Parents as Partners
Parents are a child’s first and most important teachers.
Our schools must honor and strengthen that partnership through transparency, safety, and mutual respect.
I believe parents have the right to be informed, engaged, and heard. At the same time, our educators must be supported and trusted as professionals. Strong schools are built when families and teachers work together.
This means:
-
Clear and transparent communication about curriculum and policies
-
Safe learning environments where every student feels protected
-
Respectful collaboration between families, teachers, and administrators
-
Opportunities for meaningful parent involvement
-
Accountability in decision-making at the district level
When parents are empowered and educators are respected, students thrive.
Safe & Healthy Schools
Safe Schools & Student Well-Being
Students cannot learn if they do not feel safe — physically or emotionally.
I am committed to ensuring our schools have the necessary safety infrastructure and emotional wellness resources to create a secure, supportive, and nurturing environment where every student can thrive.
This includes:
-
Maintaining strong school safety measures and updated security systems
-
Supporting trained school resource officers and safety protocols
-
Expanding access to school counselors and mental health services
-
Promoting positive school culture and anti-bullying initiatives
-
Providing educators with tools to support students’ social-emotional growth
Safety is not just about hardware — it’s about heart. When students feel secure and supported, they can fully focus on learning and reaching their potential.
